Electronic Message Sign
If
you’ve been down south Main Street in Allison you’ve
probably noticed the electronic message sign located by the
Butler County Fairgrounds colorfully lit with notices of
upcoming events. The new sign was a 150th anniversary
project of the Butler County Fair Foundation, and was
designed to replicate the look of the old floral hall
building - the oldest building on the fairgrounds. The
execution of this project has shown how improvements CAN
happen. The electronic portion of the sign was purchased for
$20,320. Thanks to so many generous donors, only a few
hundred dollars is left to raise. All of the rest of the
project – including the electrical work, the construction of
the “floral hall replica” building that houses the sign, the
block for the base and the retaining wall, the landscaping,
the lettering, and the telephone cable that controls the
sign – was all donated at no charge by civic-minded
individuals and businesses.
The Butler County Fair Foundation understands the need to
preserve the fairgrounds for future generations, and wants
to address how the buildings and land that make up the
fairgrounds can be better utilized to meet the day-to-day
needs of Butler County citizens.
The sign project was a great example of a way the fair’s
property can better meet today’s needs. With careful
planning, volunteers, and, of course money, we can continue
to make improvements.
If you feel you would like to help the Butler County Fair
Foundation in some way, we can use your help. Please
consider how making a monetary gift to the Foundation could
reduce your income tax while preserving the past for future
generations. YOU CAN MAKE SUCH A DIFFERENCE. Please talk to
your tax advisor to find out how. Please address your
donation, questions, or comments to Jennifer Heeren, Butler
County Fair Foundation, Box 266, Allison, IA 50602.
And when you see any of these people and businesses, tell
them “Thank You” for their investment in the sign project:
